Kicking off the fall of 2023, there are many new movies and activities that you have to add to your fall to-do list. Starting off, here are some newly released movies that are “must-sees”. After all the commotion when Barbie and Oppenheimer were first released, the movie scene seemed to slow down a bit. But this doesn’t mean there are not great movies to see with your friends this fall. Some of the new releases that are most popular are Saw X, A Haunting in Venice, Dumb Money and, The Creator with all audience scores above 70% on “Rotten Tomatoes”. Conveniently, all of those movies are showing in our local theater, Gardner Cinemas!
On October 21st, Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled into the future at exactly 7:30 p.m. This means that this October 21st you can go to a big movie theater like the Cinemark in Hadley, MA or Salem, NH and watch the re-release of Back to the Future.
Since it is October, here are the top horror movies according to “Rolling Stone” to watch this spooky season!
- “The Exorcist” (1973)
- “Psycho” (1960)
- “The Ring”(1998)
- “Don’t Look Now” (1973)
- “Halloween” (1978)
Even though those movies are ranked “some of the best ”, here are a few more recommendations from your classmates! Megan Vance, a sophomore here at Oakmont has a few good movies she thinks you should watch this Halloween such as, “Scream”, “Friday the 13th”, and “Hereditary”. Kaden Aubin, a junior, recommends, “The Shining ”, “Saw” and, “Get Out” as great horror movies to watch if you have not already. Since the fall is more than just Halloween, here are a few fall/cozy movies to watch under a blanket. Megan Vance recommends watching “When Harry Met Sally ”, “Little Women”, “Charlie Brown”, and “You’ve Got Mail”. As for some shows she suggests, “Gilmore Girls” and “Pretty Little Liars”. Kaden Aubin’s fall movie recommendations are “Dead Poets Society”, “Knives Out” and “Remember the Titans”. Kailtyn Renda, a sophmore, also thinks these movies are a great addition to the list; “Hocus Pocus”, “Coraline”, and “Haunted Mansion”.
