Playing a sport in college is a big dream for many student-athletes. Well, dreams are coming true for Seniors Ben Forbes and Nola Patty. These two students have verbally committed to Fitchburg State to play Baseball (Forbes) and Lacrosse (Patty). Both of the students will be on track to graduate from the university in the spring of 2028.
“Choosing FSU was not only an easy decision but the best decision for me. With how much college is, a state school was definitely an option worth exploring and the more I talked to the coach and learned about the program the more clear it became for me. They have a new indoor turf facility and weight room but they also have new coaches that have amazing past jobs and have worked for some professional teams. I am saving money while doing what I love and getting an education. I also have the ability to transfer if the opportunity comes up because I will still have the financial flexibility to do it. It is a very good situation to be in.”

“Committing to FSU was the best choice for me. After meeting with professors from my intended major, I really got a feel for the great educational opportunities the school could provide for me. Then when I met with the coach and the girls on the team I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. I’m currently doing an internship through FSU working with the hockey team and doing social media management, and I hope to continue that when I get to the school. I’m also really excited about the excellent facilities the school offers for athletes. All in all, I am very happy I get to play Lacrosse at the collegiate level.”
