Genesis Cruz Torres – 10th grade
Genesis has proven a leader in class. She is prepared and willing to share. She takes her studies seriously but is pleasant and helpful. She is willing to express an unpopular opinion but is also willing to listen to the thoughts of others. Recently, a student had to switch into our class. The new student was having a hard time and Genesis took the initiative to approach her to help. She went back to check on the student periodically and even came to me to offer to be an ally in any way. She shows maturity and initiative. (Mrs. Stefanakos)
Bryce Duval – 9th grade
Earlier in the week, I asked Bryce if a new student could shadow him for the day, and he happily agreed. He made sure this student felt welcome to Oakmont and did an excellent job of communicating with both me and the student, answering questions throughout the day, and problem-solving schedule and logistic questions that came up. He took on this role and exceeded expectations. (Mrs. Brochu)
