“I got to talk on a radio show” was a sentence I never thought would come out of my mouth. My sister, Lindsay Romano, a former Oakmonitor Editor, and her friend, Alex Glatfelter, during their sophomore year of college, decided to have a radio show on Saturdays from 8:00- 10:00 am. The name… Lemon Tree. Every Saturday morning they would go into the WDOM studio on their campus to play songs and talk on the station people could listen to by downloading the app RadioFX. Many of their songs were similar to the song that they named their show after, Lemon Tree by Mt. Joy. However, they would always take suggestions from friends, family, or anyone else listening to songs to play. “Alex and I just love music and it’s fun to be able to share that with our friends and family in a real radio show format”- Lindsay Romano
During their talking times, they would many times include different events coming up at Providence College. Many times they would ask each other and their listeners silly questions, such as if you could create a country, what would its name be and what would be notable about it. There is also a segment they like to do where they would rate their Dunkin orders because, of course, there was a Dunkin run every morning of the show. Luckily for them, on the Providence campus, there is a Dunkin right down the hall from their studio so it wasn’t a far journey for their morning coffee.
This year, it is Lindsay and Alex’s junior year at Providence College, and the radio show has changed a little bit. To start they are now airing Sundays from 10:00 am-12:00 pm which they might argue is a bit nicer because they get to sleep in a bit longer in the morning. The time change also allows them to get their Dunkin before going into the studio rather than partway through their show. The other very big change made for the whole club was they have a different program they have to use so their song choice is now limited. Nevertheless, they still put on a great radio show on Sunday mornings.
“While Oakmont has a lot of great clubs, it’s fun to be a part of a completely different type of school organization in college!”- Lindsay Romano
