On Saturday March 9th, the Winter Ensembles competed in another NESBA competition! Winter Percussion was up first, and they drove an hour away to Salem high school in New Hampshire. Their hopes were high as they already had
a first place already under their belt from last week. The performance started off wonky with them getting on the floor
early and having to wait, but their exceptional performance of a Willy Wonka themed show was done with great effort and achieved a big payoff, with a first place medal and a score of 80.75!
Later that day, the Oakmont Winter guard also boarded a bus headed for Salem. They all took the bus ride getting their
game faces on with music and laughs, and once they got there they meant business. With a strong performance and perseverance in the face of complications during the performance, the Winter guard scored 3rd in their division with a score of 81.75, a big jump from their previous scoring.
Both ensembles recorded that the crowd was quiet; with the gym being smaller than the previous, and less people in it at one time, and some of the ensemble members were recorded as being nervous, but that didn’t cause either performance a lack in enthusiasm and strength! And afterwards both ensembles enjoyed their favorite tasty treat of waffles with any topping you can think of! Congratulations to both of our outstanding ensembles and best of luck in future competitions!
