Junior Meghan Heffernan notched her 100th career goal in the last home game of the 2024 season.
In a hard-fought game against the Lunenburg Blue Knights, Heffernan made history for herself. 100 career goals, is a benchmark everyone on her team knew she would hit. Meghan’s offensive AND defensive abilities are a driving force for the girls’ lacrosse program. Being a two-way middie, Heffernan plays all 100 yards of the field. She excels in every aspect of the game from the draw control to the 8-meter drives. Meghan can really do it all.
Her lacrosse IQ isn’t the only thing people adore about her. Head Coach Gina McCullin states “I am so incredibly proud of Meghan for scoring her 100th goal last night. She has worked so hard to get to this point in her lacrosse career. Meg comes to practice every day, and works hard, all with a smile on her face.”Heffernan’s work ethic is inspiring to her teammates around her. Senior defender Nola Patty says ” Meg’s lacrosse IQ has helped our offense out tremendously. Along with her communication skills on defense, she is a solid player through and through. I’m excited to see what she does when she goes to Worcester State.” Senior Middie Mackenzie Correa says Meghan has been a positive influence on the team. “She is a committed teammate, is always there for the team, and is a team player. I’m happy she got her 100th because she deserves it.”
When asked how all of this feels, Meghan says ” It feels great. I’m glad that my hard work finally paid off and I’m ready to work towards my next goals.” Following the conclusion of her senior season next year, Meghan will be attending Worcester State University playing lacrosse. Any program that is able to reap the benefits of having Meghan Heffernan on their team can consider themselves lucky. A great player, teammate, and most importantly, a great human, she is an important asset to any team.
