What Goes Around Comes Around
By Katherine Horgan
It’s quite baffling how young people want everything
until they grow up and have to have it,
If only we could just enjoy the game
And keep rolling the dice
To pass go and collect 200
Until it’s necessary to pay the income tax,
And fighting over which little piggy is going to the market
Until they all just want to stay home,
Being friendly with everyone around
Until your first best friend is just
somebody that you used to know
And you are left to just let it go,
Why does time move so fast from learning how to
One two buckle my shoe
To falling head over heels
Until you break a leg
Which just adds insult to injury,
And sometimes we do everything we want
disguising it as as craving the best of both worlds
When really we are trapped in a indecision epidemic
Of empty brained everything addicts
Who can’t give
But just take take take,
Where an act of genuinity will appear once in a blue moon
But why would anyone do what is right
When it’s easier to just cut corners?
And everyone is out there saying
I promise that you’ll never find another like me
As they put all their effort into being a carbon copy
Its crazy how people want to fit in so badly
Yet be not like the other girls
With the mindset of
If I was you, I’d wanna be me too,
Until they get the taste of their own medicine
And get shocked back into reality
Where none of that even matters
Because it’s not just a phase,
So to address the elephant in the room
Maybe we should all stop trying so hard
To be the best person that we can be
When we aren’t even our own person,
Because even if you do all the right things
It may be for the wrong reasons
So no matter how fancily you roll the dice
You might still get snake eyes
