What is Brawl Stars?
Brawl Stars is a free, fast paced, 3v3 Multiplayer Mobile game, developed in 2018 by Finnish company Supercell. Consisting of 83 different “Brawlers” to choose from, players have lots of customization and opportunity to fit their play style.
Gameplay
Each brawler has their own base attack along with a super ability that they can charge throughout the game. Brawlers also have 2 unlockable gadgets, and 2 star powers. Players can purchase these to modify their base attacks and add health, damage, movement speed, etc.
Game Modes
The game has multiple modes including, 3v3 knockout, battle royale, gem grab, and soccer. Brawl Stars cycles limited time modes such as hotzone, wipeout, bounty, heist, jelly-fishing, and ranked. Ranked is a competitive game mode where you gain/lose points that determine your rank. The categories are bronze, silver, gold, diamond, mythic, legendary, and masters. Every day different maps with unique layouts cycle through each game mode.
Popularity
According to Statista.com, on Brawl Stars initial drop in 2018 it totaled over 30 million downloads. From January 2022 till December of 2023, the game averaged below 5 million. Recently in April of 2024 it has spiked in popularity, totaling over 13 million downloads.
Which Brawler Should I choose?
Finding the right brawler can be difficult and time consuming, Oakmonts video game design class prefers Berry and Dynamike. Both brawlers are able to throw their attacks over walls. This category of brawlers is popular because they can attack while remaining safe from damage.
Suggestions
Sophomore running back Silas Roy likes Gale because of his stun ability and his versatility among many game modes. Video game enthusiast Jace Lemay would disagree, he thinks 8-bit is better because of his high magazine and strong damage. We would recommend Piper because of her long range and high damage snipes.
