Last year
Last year, in the regular season, Tua Tagovailoa was the leader in passing yards with 4,624 total passing yards. Behind him was Jared Goff with 4,575, Dak Prescott with 4,516, Josh Allen with 4,306, and Brock Purdy with 4,280. Brock Purdy had about 100 more passing yards than Patrick Mahomes in his first year as a full-time starter. Although, Brock had a lot of weapons to throw to such as Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk all in the top 40 receiving yard leaders. Aiyuk had the most with 1,342 yards. Patrick Mahomes only had 1 receiver in the top 100 with 400 yards and TE Travis Kelce with just over 1000. One of the main reasons Tua was number 1 is because of Tyreek and Waddle. Tyreek had 1800 receiving yards which is about ⅓ of Tua’s passing yards. https://www.profootballreference.com/years/2023/passing.htm
This year
This year, I think that the top 5 (not in order) will be CJ Stroud, Brock Purdy, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson. You are probably wondering why Mahomes isn’t in the top 5. He is not in the top 5 because, in the off-season, they barely added to their offense, so Mahomes will probably have the same amount of yards. The one main reason Tua isn’t in the top 5 is because he averages 2 concussions a year and if it happens again he may not come back.
Lamar Jackson
Lamar has recently got a new deadly weapon known as Derrick Henry. I think this will boost his passing yard production and make him place in the top 5. as well as get him the spot of the best passing and running QB.
CJ Stroud
CJ Stroud as a rookie finished inside the top 10 and with his receiving core he has now he should place top 3 if not, then he should definitely be in the top 5 if he can have a good yardage production throughout the season.
Jalen Hurts
Last year Jalen Hurts finished outside the top 10 and somehow still made it to the Super Bowl. Now, after a mid year, he should finish in the top 3 with his good receiving core if not top 5.
Brock Purdy
Now that Brock Purdy has just had his first full season as a starter and has a full receiving core other than CMC who has struggled with injuries his whole career, he should be able to work up to that number 3 or 4 spot or at the very least number 5.
Jared Goff
After slowly making his way up the leaderboard over the past years, Jared Goff is just getting better and better. Last year he led his team to a 12-5 record and made it to the playoffs. With Amon-Ra St. Brown getting more comfortable and being better than ever, he will help him place in the top 5.

Good pick with CJ Stroud but right now that’s the only one. Cant wait to see how it all shapes up.
