After being named Coach of the Year last year and being back to back state champions, Timothy Caouette has accomplished a lot.
Oakmont Baseball has had the best two seasons since Oakmont was established in 1960. There are too many aspects to count on why they were so successful, but one stands out: Timothy Caouette. Out of 250 programs he has been chosen for the ¨Frank Carey¨ Coach Of The Year Award for his outstanding commitment to Oakmont Baseball, nevermind winning back to back state championships. He has grown the game of baseball throughout the communities around him.
He devotes months and months a year for Oakmont Baseball and to make everyone feel like family. Caouette also coaches the golf team for Oakmont. While teaching English and coaching two sports for Oakmont, Caouette coaches his son and daughter’s teams for the town, as well as committing his effort to become a memorable father. With being away from home so much, the loving support of his wife helps him stay encouraged.
Caouette grew up around Westminster, playing ball since he was little. His father was the Oakmont baseball Coach when Caouette was growing up. He told his dad that when he grew up he wants to be in his spot. One of his dream jobs was to be a high school baseball coach. Cauoette attended Oakmont and played varsity baseball since freshman year. He was starting catcher throughout high school. His senior year he committed to Assumption University where he had a solid career. His father went to Assumption and played ball there as well.
Before coaching at Oakmont, he was at Gardner High School as an assistant coach for Gregg Picucci, who has been coaching in Mass for 50 years. After leaving Gardner for the head coaching job here at Oakmont, Picucci followed him and became the assistant coach here, along with Justin Nussey. Nussey attended Oakmont and became an alumni here as well. Cauoette doesn’t see them as assistants, nor does he see his kids like players. He thinks of everyone like family.
Nola Patty, a retired Oakmonitor editor/reporter, made a film on Caouette last year on his accomplishments as well.
