Ode to a Rainy Day
Perched against the bay window overlooking my front yard, I observe the rainstorm. The repetitive action of the rain landing on the windowsill, and then slowly drizzling down the dark logs of the cabin into a puddle, brings me peace and serenity. I listen to the melodic sound of the large drops dancing on the roof. Water beautifully coats all the plants. Gazing out at the storm — from the comfort of my living room— puts me into a sleepy haze. The rain bounces around like my thoughts today. The intensity of the rainfall begins to lessen. I grab my large, green umbrella from my closet and head to the door. As I step outside, the scent of the wet pavement invades my nose. Puddles fill the potholes in the street. The neighborhood children sprint out their front doors, eager to splash around. A rainbow paints the sky.
