As we are far into the fall season, the first rounds of MIAA Power Rankings have been released. Since game scores continuously change, the Power Rankings are updated every Tuesday and Friday until the season ends. According to the MIAA, “The MIAA Power Ratings formula, which has been used in conjugation with the Statewide Tournament since its inception in Fall 2021, is a basic algorithm consisting of two components…team’s average margin of victory and average of opponents’ ratings.” MIAA has ranked field hockey, football, girl’s soccer, and boy’s soccer.

Starting strong, Oakmont football has been set at #17 in Division 6. With 3 wins and 1 loss so far, their average margin of victory is 3.0000 and their opponent’s rating is 0.2381. Compared to October 29th of 2023 they are three places above what they were. The team ended last year at 20th place. Our homecoming game showed inspiring potential for the progression of the season.

Currently, the field hockey team is close to the same spot they were at the end of the 2023 season. With 2 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties, we stand at #18 in Division 3. Our average margin of victory is -0.5833, and our opponent’s rating is 1.6639, leaving our rating at 1.0806. On Wednesday, October 9, the team hosted their Senior Appreciation Game. The team is hoping for a great end to the season.

The Oakmont boys soccer team ended the 2023 season victoriously at the #1 spot in Division 3. Now, they stand at #42 due to their record of 3 wins, 7 losses and 2 ties. The average margin of victory is -0.2500, and the opponent’s rating is -0.0768, which gives us a total rating of -0.1732. Thursday, October 10, was the team’s Senior Appreciation Game against Littleton.

Finally, our girls soccer team stands at #47 in Division 3. That leaves them very close to where they stood last year, at #43. Currently, they have 2 wins, 8 losses, and 3 ties. This leads the average margin of victory to be -0.7692, the opponent’s rating to be 0.8141, and the total rating to be 0.0449. Most recently, the team won 2-1 against Groton-Dunstable.
