Are you participating in the homecoming dance theme this year?
Do you even know what this year’s homecoming dance theme is?
After asking many students if they are participating in the homecoming dance theme, the majority of students said they were not participating and most weren’t even aware what the theme was or aware we even had a theme. The theme this year at Oakmont is Once Upon A Time/Fairy Tale.
When I informed the students about what the theme was, some students asked me how they would participate or dress up for the theme. I decided to ask the president of the student council: Rachel O’Neill. I first asked O’Neill how the theme would be presented at the dance and she let me know that she didn’t want to spoil too much; however, she did let me know that they have decorations such as flower garlands and castles. I then asked her how students are expected to participate and dress up in the theme “fairy tale.” O’Neill expressed that she thinks that the way to participate in this year’s theme would simply be the color of the dress or tie. She said when she thinks about fairy tales-she thinks about pastel colors. After talking to O’Neill, I also had my own ideas on how students could participate in this year’s theme. I feel that you could try to match a Disney prince or princess’s suit/dress to go along with the theme, such as copying the colors, design, etc. of whatever Disney character you are trying to match.
With a bit of creativity, all students can participate in this year’s theme to make the dance magical and memorable.
