Baton twirling – an uncommon yet captivating sport. Athletes in this sport may be scarce and hard to find; however, Oakmont has a “twirler” of its own. Ms. Ellarie Healey, an Oakmont freshman, baton twirls for the Red Star Twirlers in Derry New Hampshire.
Healey has a handful of achievements, including winning third place overall at nationals in South Bound Indiana. She started baton twirling at four years old. She twirled for halftime at the field hockey senior night game on October ninth. From cartwheeling to juggling, Healey’s performance was eye-catching. She used two light-up batons that changed the order of the rainbow. She also used her white-tip batons for the juggling in her routine. Healey twirled to “Better When I’m Dancing” by Megan Trainor. Healey’s song choice went hand in hand with her performance as the crowd went wild.
Healey’s first Oakmont performance was one that we will never forget, you could say she had the crowd’s heads twirling with excitement. Hopefully, Ellarie can further this excitement by letting the crowd see her perform again.
