Who is Conan Gray?

Have you heard of Found Heaven? Maybe you have listened to a friend talk about Superache or heard the name “Conan Gray” in a sentence. You may wonder, “What are these words, and who is this guy?” My article tells it all.  So, who is Conan Gray?

Early Life

Conan’s early life was extremely hard. He grew up in a small town named Georgetown, located in Texas. His parents divorced early in his life, which made things more difficult for him. Gray grew up poor and had to move around quite a bit until his parents kicked him out at age 14, causing him to hop between friends’ homes.

Youtube Era

Conan Gray started his musical career at age 12 by posting videos on YouTube. Conan would consistently post vlogs and songs for 6 years, within those six years some of his fan-favorite deep cuts were released. Songs like Antics, Lovesick Boys, and See Right Through. At the end of his high school career, after consistently making songs, he finally had a breakthrough hit with his radio debut with “Idle Town”. Before he left his hometown – Georgetown, Texas – he left one more song Named “Grow”. Grow symbolizes all of his life growing up in Texas and finally leaving to do bigger things, to grow out of his small bubble of the small town he lives in. He moved to Los Angeles and started attending UCLA but dropped out and signed with Republic Records for his debut EP in the music field!

Sunset Season

Sunset Season came out on November 16th, 2018. It was Conan Gray’s first official EP. It had 5 tracks following: Idle Town, Generation Why, Crush Culture, Greek God, and Lookalike. It held what fans love about Conan most – being incredibly emotional. Each song had a sense of unique ability and stood out. It was followed by the Sunset Shows Tour which started on March 10th, 2019 and ended on April 14th, 2019. It peaked at 116 on the Billboard 200.Following the success of Sunset Season Conan Gray after the Sunset Shows began to work on the next upcoming singles for this first Studio Album, Kid Krow

Kid Krow

Kid Krow was released on March 20th, 2020. It was a 12-track album. With the release of the singles named Checkmate, Comfort Crowd, Maniac, The Story. With the release of Comfort Crowd, he had a tour called The Comfort Crowd Tour. The release of Kid Krow was an instant hit on the new upcoming social media app Tiktok. Heather was an insane megahit which is still Conan’s most popular song to this day with 1.8 BILLION STREAMS on Spotify alone! The album was what everyone wanted and loved by Conan Gray. The homey sense of music with fun and chaotic lyrics that brought his fanbase together from when he was 12 to 21.

With the release of Kid Krow an Era of Singles By Conan was Released.

Singles Era

The first single and Collaboration Conan had in his professional career was with Lauv on Fake. he promoted this song on TikTok. The next song to be released was Overdrive which was promoted on his Youtube and TikTok Channel.  The next two singles were both singles for his future album Superache; they were called People Watching and Astronomy. The next single was called Telepath, and it was promoted on radio shows and both his TikTok and YouTube channels.

Superache Era

The Superache Era started with a Wave of Singles being released. The first single to be released for the era was Called Jigsaw. It was a rock-type song, and Conan’s first time trying that genre. The next single was called Memoires charted on the billboard and is certified gold. Conan Gray’s next single was called Yours and broke Conan’s record for most streams in one day. Superache was released on June 24th, 2022, and has been nominated for numerous awards. Its highest-charting placement was at 4 with the OCC billboard. Superache had a great tour with many memorable moments that showed how Conan was still the boy his fans loved despite the fame he had gained.

Found Heaven Era

Conan Gray entered a new era in 2023 very 80s inspired with the first single of the Era being called Never Ending Song. It was heavily promoted and teased when he was at a festival. It was released on May 19th, 2023. He put out a wave of singles and announced the Album “Found Heaven” on January 31st. The Album was met with great critical success but was met somewhat poorly by the common ear. Many people hated how he strayed from the original sound he’s been perfecting for the past two albums; however, many loved the sound. It brought a sense of new and happiness to the avid listeners as they mostly were used to hearing the same sad songs over and over.

Conan is Currently on Tour for his Album Found Heaven and it is incredibly inspiring to see from when he was a tiny 12 year-old making vlogs to now touring the world. Conan is an amazing person and everyone should check out his music if they have the chance.
