As the spooky season approaches, people are starting to buy costumes, decorations, and, best of all, candy. Candy is one of the most popular items bought during this time and is something that everyone goes crazy for—even the adults. But here’s the tricky question: What’s better, Candy or Chocolate?
I surveyed whether candy or chocolate was better. In my survey I asked four questions: Are you going trick or treating this year, Where is the best place to trick or treat, what is better, candy or chocolate, and then two multiple choice questions depending on which one you chose on the previous question. To my surprise, many people said they like candy and chocolate rather than one or the other. The people who said that they preferred both also mentioned that it depended on the mood that they were in. The big question I asked was, “ Isn’t candy and chocolate the same?” Well, let’s see what the survey has to say.
Most students at Oakmont said that they preferred chocolate over candy, and the minority said that candy was better. For the students who chose chocolate, there was a variety of different kinds of chocolate, while the candy lovers stuck to mostly the same types of candy. Students who selected both candy and chocolate also selected many of the same items as well. When I asked people why they said both, most said they couldn’t pick, or it depended on their mood. So clearly chocolate is not a candy according to most students.
Besides the big debate, I asked people where the best place to go trick-or-treating. The most popular answer was “Bacon Street”, but the “town of Westminster” followed closely behind. Ashburnham didn’t get much love, but I can tell you firsthand that the Center of Ashburnham can be the jackpot, the local businesses as well as the houses around that area tend to give out good candy. If you plan on going trick-or-treating though, I would have to agree with most students and say that Westminster has the better trick-or-treating. With that being said, those of you who plan on handing out treats on Halloween, make sure to hand out more chocolate than candy.

I like how you also included the many places you can trick-or-treat, and which ones were more popular
