New England is known for many things, one of which is its cold weather. While some New Englanders are brought to sadness as the weather begins to turn, others await the thrilling ski season ahead.
Skiing is available for those of all abilities. From “bunny hills” to a terrain park, there is a place for you. A terrain park is favored by those who seek adrenaline. You feel weightless and free as you ascend off jumps, adding creativity to every move. “Bunny hills” are made for timid, or first-time skiers. Wachusett Mountain located in Princeton, Massachusetts offers two “bunny hills”. These hills are not steep and are often almost flat.
Skiing also offers a sense of community. Whether connecting with others on social media or starting small talk on a chairlift, there is always a way to find people with the same interests. The terrain park hosts some of the most welcoming people. They’ll always cheer you on as you succeed or encourage you to persevere after a fall. Like other sports, joining lessons can create a tight-knit group. Lessons are a place to develop lifelong friends while learning and advancing your skills.
Skiing is not considered a team sport – you do not have to rely on others to compete. It is a great opportunity to excel at your rate. Skiing is just as fun alone – unlike other sports like baseball or soccer that require other people to participate.
Whether you enjoy the cold, or are looking for a way to get out of the house, you should take up skiing. Hope to see you on the slopes this winter!
