Last Friday, October 18th, The Oakmont-Overlook Marching Spartans welcomed musicians from around the district to join them in their annual Band Night. It all started with the Marching Spartans teaching the young musicians the commands that they would use later that night during the performance. After they played through the songs that they had learned together, everyone rushed up to the cafeteria for some delicious pizza! Once everyone was done with dinner, the Marching Spartans got suited up in their uniforms for pre-game.
After the first two quarters and lots of fun in the stands, everyone headed to the field for their halftime performance. The younger kids watched as the Marching Spartans performed their show, War of the Worlds. Once they finished, all the musicians joined together for the district-wide performance. The songs performed by all the talented musicians were “Star Wars”, “Proud Mary”, and the “B-flat Song”.
This was yet another extremely successful band night with an amazing turnout of people interested in being “future Marching Spartans”. The Marching Spartans hope that people in Middle and High School consider being a part of this wonderful program. Good job Musicians!
