What’s your favorite Holiday?

Many people have different opinions on holidays, including why they love them, why they dislike them, why they celebrate them, and why they don’t celebrate them. 

I had 100 students at Oakmont fill out a survey on their favorite holiday and why they liked it. This is a chart of what people put down for their favorite holiday. 

Many people have different opinions on holidays, including

Christmas got 64%  which is the highest percentage. The survey asked, “Why is it your favorite holiday,” The people who said Christmas is their favorite holiday said that the reason they like it is because they get to spend time with family, receive presents, and the Christmas spirit. Others also said that they like Christmas because of their religious views. 

The holiday that got the second highest number of votes is Halloween, which got 23%. People said that they like it because they get to dress up, trick or treat, and hang out with friends. They also get to decorate for Halloween, but some people just like the feeling of the Halloween spirit. Some also said that they like Halloween because it’s coordinated with fall, and some people love fall.    

Only 6% of people said that their favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. They chose this as their favorite holiday because they get to eat food, see friends, swim, see fireworks, and spend time with family. 

Only 4% of people said that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday. They said it was their favorite holiday because they spend time with family they haven’t seen in a while and they get to eat delicious food.

People who chose “Other” believed that St. Patrick’s Day was the best because they are Irish. Someone mentioned that their birthday was right after Christmas so they didn’t like the Christmas season. While others said New Year’s was their favorite because they get to “stay home”. 

Whether your favorite holiday is Christmas, Halloween, or even Thanksgiving, we can all agree that the best part about them is the time spent with your family and friends during the holiday season.
