Due to the unpredictable nature of hockey, you have to expect the unexpected. With the regular season beginning, and the signing of new players, let’s see where our favorite team stands, along with other predictions for the 2024-2025 season.
Boston Bruins
Some tough roster decisions were made amidst the Boston Bruins finally signing Jeremy Swayman, and let’s just say, this decision was expensive. $66 million expensive.
The Bruins have strengthened their defense throughout the off-season, considering they no longer have defensemen under 6’1. Last year’s playoffs were rough, and our defense lacked players who were both strong and alert.
“I think signing Swayman was the correct move for the Bruins, but he better be stopping lots of pucks for $8.25 million a year – that’s all I’ve got to say. “- Nola Patty, Former Hockey Broadcaster for AWCM
What are we up against?
The Toronto Maple Leafs will undoubtedly be a threat to Boston. However, it is unlikely that they will make the playoffs. The Leafs have only had one playoff series win since 2004. By no chance will any Bruins fan forget game 7 of last season. Game 7, round 1, was in the air, considering neither team had advanced to round two in quite some time. Additionally, The Leafs had never beaten the Bruins in a game 7 before.
After a loss to them already, The Florida Panthers will also be a threat to the B’s. Considering the Bruins now have one of the tallest and heaviest rosters in the league, they should be able to beat off the physical nature of the Panthers. The determining factor lies in whether or not the Bruins can get over their mental blockage. If they can’t, there is no chance of making it to playoffs. However, if the Bruins can beat off the Panthers in playoffs, they have a great chance of winning the Stanley Cup. The only concern is the Bruins scoring depth.
Let’s address the elephant in the room:
Will The Bruins make it to Playoffs?
The Bruins are likely to make it to playoffs, however, they have some areas to improve. Swayman needs to get his head back into the game, missing training camp threw him off. The team’s reliance on Pastrnak isn’t ideal, considering he led the team in goals, assists, and points last season. This specific lineup was built for Playoffs, so even if they don’t do well now, that could change quickly. President of the Boston Bruins, Cam Neely, stated in an interview about playoffs, “I feel like we’re a strong contender if we’ve got our full lineup.” With that, I think most fans can agree.
