On Sunday, November 3, the Oakmont-Overlook Marching Spartans traveled to Lawrence, MA to compete in NESBA Finals. The Marching Spartans have been strategically perfecting their halftime show, War of the Worlds, since June of this year, and they were more than ready to put it on for the last time competitively.
Oakmont was placed in the highest division of NESBA competition this year, Division 5, after receiving the title of Division 3 Champion last season. This was a big deal as Division 5 consists of the best and biggest high school marching bands in all of New England. However, the Marching Spartans knew that they could take on the challenge.
The Marching Spartans competed against six other bands which included Wakefield, Oliver Ames, Quincy/North Quincy, Methuen, Andover, and Portsmouth. They also were the last high school band to perform, leaving their show fresh in the packed audience’s minds. The Marching Spartans placed 2nd with a gold-medal score of 94.84. Congratulations to an AMAZING season and don’t miss their next performance this Friday at the home football game! Great job, Spartans!
