The Interclass Plays, a long-lasting Oakmont tradition, were recently performed on Saturday and Sunday, November 22nd and 23rd. All four grades have worked tirelessly to write, perform, and direct their plays.
The first play performed was the freshman show “The Not So Super Heroes,” written by Luci Adams, Harper Devlin, Natalie DeMar, and Ari Stowell and directed by Luci Adams. This hilarious show followed a therapist, played by Natalie DeMar, as she tried to lead a group of Superheroes who didn’t like their powers. From a boy who could only breathe underwater to a girl who could only transform into fruit, this show was amusing and packed with laughs.
The second show-up was the sophomores’ show “Jammed,” written and directed by Cecelia Maki-Morales. The show followed a teen girl, played by Elizabeth Bonilla, as she attended her aunt’s “birthday” party when the door got jammed. As all their big personalities interacted, you were sure to laugh at the jokes naturally made.
The Juinors’ “The Experiment” was the third show to be performed. “The Experiment” was directed by Ryan Rollo and Amanda Buszkiewicz, with the help of Julia Feeley for the writing. This show was about eleven teenagers, unknowingly trapped in an experiment. I, Ryan Rollo, didn’t have many expectations coming into this show, as this is my first experience on stage for interclass and as a director. There were struggles during the writing process, and getting everyone to memorize their lines, but it was so much fun!
Lastly, the senior play, written by Kaden Aubin and directed by Kaden Aubin and Abigail Cenotti, was performed. Their show, “Spiritless Airlines: The Lost Flight,” followed a plane that crashed on a TV set. What was supposed to be a plane holding a cast of reality TV stars turned out to be a group of random people. As they try to complete the pre-set challenges, they encounter the pilot, the Illuminati, and even Eminem. This show was packed with quick comical jokes that were sure to make everyone in the audience laugh.
After watching all these well-put-together plays, Oakmont staff voted on their favorite play. For the second year in a row, the seniors took their title home. Congratulations to all the writers, directors, performers, and stage crew for these amazing performances!
