On January 2, the Lakers had an amazing home win against the Trail Blazers. Lebron averaged 38 points in that game, which is surprisingly good for a 40-year-old man. According to ESPN, he had 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Some say that he can do better or that he’s done better due to his age, but some say that he’s good despite his age.
Lebron’s statistics show that he has been doing an outstanding job and hatching up just fine with all the other players. Some people say 40 is too old to play basketball, but I think Lebron is at a good age and in a good state to keep going. People like to pick on Lebron but fail to look at the whole picture. Vince Carter played in the NBA on the Toronto Raptors and retired at 43. According to ESPN, he had an average of 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
Normally, NBA players say goodbye to basketball at around 34-37 due to early injuries or personal reasons. Problems in your body, such as back and knee, start developing when you hit 30. MedlinePlus explains that the human body is comprised of water, bones, fat, and lean tissues. Once you hit 30 your body starts to go through a process called atrophy. Atrophy is when you begin to lose your lean tissues. The muscles, organs, liver, kidney, and other organs are losing their cells too.
Though your body might slow down at some point, there are ways to prevent this or slow things down. According to a FortuneWell article from November 4, 2024, Lebron’s diet is rich in whole, organic foods, eliminating sugar, fried foods, and highly processed foods. All things that can keep you moving for another season. Sparkellnessge explains that exercise helps maintain flexibility, balance, and strength which are a big factor in preventing the aches and pains that come with aging. Luckily for Lebron, he does a ton of exercise. Lebron spends about $1.5 million on his body. This includes food, exercise, and essential needs for his body to stay fit for another season.
Lebron is aware of the feedback on him still playing, but that won’t stop him. Stadium Rant quotes Lebron: “Honestly if I wanted to, I could probably play at a high level for another five to seven years. If I wanted to.” He seems quite capable of going a few more years.
With all that being said, Lebron is a very good basketball player, and “The King” will live on for more seasons to come if he maintains a good diet and routine every day. One day he might be too old to play, but for now, we can enjoy staying with him.
