MIAA Power Rankings have officially been released for the 2024-2025 winter season. Using a specific formula, MIAA is able to rank each team in its division. Oakmont teams have shaken up the rankings since last year. It’s time for an update. 

The Oakmont girls’ basketball team has been a highlight of this winter season. With immportant wins the girls have made big changes in their ranking in Division 3. At the end of last season, they stood at #41 with 6 wins and 14 losses. Now, they are at #27 with a 7 win streak and 0 losses. The team’s defensive skills make them a force to be reckoned with. They are sure to continue their success throughout the remainder of the season. 

Next, we have our boys’ basketball team. They have a record of 5 wins and 3 losses and have won their last four games in a row. Currently, their record leaves them at #41 in Division 3. In the 2024 season, they ended at the #29 spot with a tied record of 10-10. As the season progresses and those numbers are updated, the team is certain to rise through the ranks. 

Like the girls’ basketball team, our boys’ ice hockey team has made improvements in their initial ranking in Division 4. They finished the 2024 season at #42 with a record of 5-14. Now, they sit at #36 with a 4-4 record. With many games ahead, the team will undoubtedly see a great end to their season.

Our girls’ ice hockey team has jumped from #27 in Division 2 to #18. With a record of 3-6, our girls have faced tough competition to bring their ratings up. Each game’s score, despite the 6-0 win against Boston Latin Academy has been incredibly close. These girls will continue to compete with grit as they skate through this season. 

These initial scores will change repeatedly throughout the season. Keep an eye on where your favorite teams sit as we get closer to the end of the season. As always, our Oakmont athletes put on a great show for the crowd, so come out and support them as exciting games continue.
