As we begin the new year, there is a lot to look forward to in the world of movies. From superheroes to princesses, there is sure to be a movie for everyone. Here’s a sneak peek at the top ten most anticipated movies of 2025.
Wicked: For Good
Originally a Broadway musical, the Wicked movies tell the untold story of the Witches of Oz. The musical was split into two different movies: Wicked: Part One, which was released in November 2024, and Wicked: For Good, which is going to be released on November 21st, 2025. Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, this movie is predicted to be just as good as the last.
28 Years Later
28 Years Later is a post-apocalyptic movie that is a sequel to the movies 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. This movie is about the effects of a rage virus that had escaped a laboratory almost three decades prior. While we don’t know the full plot, we do know that this movie is sure to make your skin crawl. It will be released to theaters on June 20th.
Superman
Coming out on July 11th, this movie follows the story of Superman as he attempts to reconcile his alien heritage with his human upbringing. It will be the first film in the DC Universe (DCU).
Captain America: Brave New World
Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Sam Wilson offers a whole new perspective on the iconic role of Captain America. After being chosen to become the replacement for Captain America, Sam Wilson finds himself in the middle of an international struggle. This movie will be showing in theaters on February 14th.
Avatar: Fire and Ash
As a part of the Avatar saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash is coming out on December 19th. This sci-fi movie, narrated by Lo’ak, tells us a story of destruction and renewal. In Avatar 3, we travel deeper into the volcanoes of Pandora and meet the Ash people.
Jurassic World: Rebirth
Jurassic World: Rebirth will be the seventh film and sixth sequel in the Jurassic Park franchise. In this movie, an expedition is sent to extract DNA from prehistoric creatures in order to discover a medical breakthrough. It will be released on July 2nd.
How to Train Your Dragon
A live-action version of the 2010 How to Train Your Dragon movie will be released on June 13th. The film follows the adventures of a young Viking boy named Hiccup who befriends a dragon.
Snow White
Starring Rachel Zegler, Snow White is a live-action adaptation of the 1937 Disney movie- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As a version of the 85-year-old classic cartoon, this film tells the Grim Brothers tale of Snow White, her dwarves, and the evil queen.
Zootopia 2
Who knew rabbits and foxes could get along? In this long-awaited sequel, two friends, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, team up to solve a case together. This movie will be released on November 26th.
A Minecraft Movie
Four friends are sucked into the digital world of Minecraft. In order to get out, they must embark on a journey and master the world. Starring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Jennifer Coolidge. This movie will be out in theaters on April 4th.
