I look up and see all the girls run off from the blocks. All the nerves start to come in, and I realize I’m next. I step into the block, and boom, the “gun” sounds, and I’m off.
As a sprinter, most races go by pretty fast, so sometimes I don’t realize how short and quick they are. I’m always nervous before a race and usually you can tell that I am. I either play with my rings, start rocking back and forth I even start to look around to see what the others are doing.
Oakmont’s track team has about 50 people, with our coaches being Ms.Woodworth and Ms.RB, both middle school teachers. I like our team; the only thing that bothers me is the fact that there are more boys than girls, but that’s ok because girls usually do outdoor track instead of indoor. Overall, I love this sport, the friends I’ve made the things I’ve learned, and I’m excited to see what’s in store for the future.
