Cooper Flagg is a history making hooper raised in the small town of Newport, Maine. Being in such an unpopular city/state made it harder for Cooper to gain recognition. He blew up and gained an exceptional amount of recognition playing for Maine United in the EYBL circuit. From there Cooper played outstanding for Maine United and by gaining so much recognition he eventually got offered to play for Montverde Academy in his 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 high school seasons.
In the 2023-2024 season, Monteverde were marked national champions and Cooper Flagg was named Spalding 2024 MVP. That really boosted his probability of getting what offer he is looking for regarding his college career. After his highschool season ended he went into his final aau season on a different mode. After winning MVP and the championship for Monteverde he was named NO.1 SLAM player of 2025.
From there all his achievements during his high school career had him “on the map”, giving him his dream while being offered by Duke, UCLA, Kansas, University of Connecticut (UCONN), and many more, but these were his top choices. On October 30th, 2023. Cooper narrowed his choices to the University of Connecticut and Duke. And based on his attentiveness on Duke’s campus and the people on campus he decided to continue his journey committing to Duke University, aside from Isaiah Evans and that helped part of his decision while both gained a good friendship during the SLAM Summer Classic Vol.5.
On November 4th, 2024 Cooper’s debut for a game opener against Maine, he scored 18 points with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals to catch a 96-62 win. He knew he was starting off hot as a freshman leading his team. So far in his first season he is leading the team in points (602), assists (131), rebounds( 235), steals (47), and blocks (39), making him ACC player of the year and rookie of the year honors. Flagg also pulled off a 42 point performance against Notre Dame setting a new Duke freshman record. Sadly one week before March Madness, Cooper Flagg got into a heartbreaking injury in his left ankle. Oakmont freshman Anthony Chanes states that “Cooper’s injury is insane and it will fully affect Duke’s probability to succeed in March Madness regarding Cooper being their star player”.
Cooper is coming in hot to the NBA. Projected to be number 1 draft pick in the 2025 NBA draft, being stared at by the Wizards, Hornets, and Jazz. This season the Jazz have the worst record (15-54) followed by the Wizards (15-52) and Hornets (17-50). Making them the highest probability to draft Cooper Flagg in the first round, considering all team records don’t go good for the rest of the season. This kid Cooper Flagg is an upcoming superstar and maybe even the next goat?
