With sports starting up, the Oakmont Softball Team is back and better than ever! With 16 excited players and two knowledgeable coaches, we are ready for an amazing season!
The locker room is filled with anticipation as we approach our first games of the season. Even though we are not able to play on our field yet, we still are working hard and making the most of our time on the turf and in the gym to prepare.
With our batting cage in the gym, we are ready to go! As our coach throws front toss to us, we smash the balls and prepare to hit every pitch with precision and power. Tee work is also taking place as we work on our swings and our minds. The music blasting adds to the exhilarating energy of our practices. With the cracks of our bats echoing, our spirits rise, and our intensity grows because we know we will be ready to win this year!
On the turf, we work on our defensive approaches. In our usual routine, infield and outfield practice takes place followed by a game of 21 Outs. These drills help us prepare to stop every ball in sight. While it is slightly different terrain, we figure out what to do and put in just as much effort as we put in when playing on our real field. We know that how we practice will affect how we play in games, so we make sure to practice well.
With early scrimmages and games, uniforms were distributed to players. Lucky jersey numbers were secured, and our bright white pants now wait eagerly to be covered in dirt. Our crisp uniforms give us a sleek, professional look to complement our skills on the field!
In preparation for the games, our lineups were tested in scrimmages to get the best sense of where people should play. The scrimmages allowed us to feel more comfortable in our positions, and now we are ready to showcase this in our upcoming games.
Over the course of these initial two weeks, our throws have grown stronger, our swings have gained more power, and our team family has grown a whole lot tighter. We are thrilled for the season ahead. We are back and ready to win!
Also, energy on the sidelines is just as important as the energy on the field, so make sure to come support us throughout the season!
