This past Friday, June 6th, Oakmont’s Marching Spartans, Select Choir, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, and Winter Colorguard finished their year with final performances around the district at their annual school tours. The ensembles began their day performing at Overlook Middle School, then moved to John R. Briggs Elementary School, and finished their day at Westminster Elementary School.
The Marching Spartans performed their fall show, War of the Worlds. Winter Percussion performed their show, The Haunted Palace, and Winter Colorguard performed their show, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Jazz Band performed multiple pieces, including “Moten Swing,” while the Select Choir performed multiple pieces, including “Take On Me.”
All ensembles performed incredibly throughout the day, showing students throughout

the district what the music program here has to offer. At the end of the day, all of the students went back to Oakmont to celebrate the year and say goodbye to the seniors with an annual barbecue.
If you find any interest in learning a new instrument, joining colorguard, making new friends, or simply learning more about the program, the Marching Spartans had their first rehearsal on June 10, 2025. If you missed the first rehearsal, the next will be on June 17, 2025, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. If you are interested, we hope to see you there!
