Brown
By Gavin Stone
The color brown
As perfect a chilled iced coffee in the morning
Stares back at me with calm cinnamon intent.
Her eyes, as pretty as a chocolate lab
Gingerbread beams glow at me
As I take in the umber calmness of her smile
Her hair, as curly as roots to a tree
Brunette as life itself
Soft as the warm embrace of her Cedar touch
Her laugh, as contagious as tawny hiccups
a delightful mocha chuckle brightens my day
all problems seem to disappear
Her sweatshirt, as hickory as an acorn
cozy as a fireplace on a cool summer night
I feel safe in her pecan hug
The brown happiness of the moment
consumed me with caramel embrace
Everything was so brown
