The Oakmont-Overlook Marching Spartans embraced musicians from around the district for their annual Band Night on Friday, October 3rd.

The afternoon began with a Marching Spartans rehearsal to show the kids what marching band is all about! Next, the young musicians were separated by instrument, where the current members of the band taught the kids the commands they would need for the performance. Then, they played through the songs they had learned for this special night.
Afterwards, everyone raced up to the cafeteria for some tasty pizza, and all of the musicians got to know each other. Once everyone was done eating, the Marching Spartans put on their uniforms in preparation for the football game, while the younger musicians headed onto the bleachers to watch pre-game.
After the first two quarters with lots of excitement in the stands, all of the musicians headed to the field for their halftime performance. The Marching Spartans performed their show, Uncaged, and the crowd went wild. Immediately after, all the kids gathered on the field for their district-wide performance. The songs performed by these talented musicians were “The Hey Song,” “Wooly Bully,” and “The B-flat Song”.
Once again, this year’s Band Night was very successful, with an exceptional turnout of people interested in being “future Marching Spartans.” The Marching Spartans hope that the people who joined them for this great night consider joining this incredible program. Amazing job to all musicians who performed!
