The Ribcage

The Ribcage

Ribcage

By Alanna Keese

The sky is covered in gray clouds

There was no sunshine

It was cold and slightly raining

Yet the birds still chirp

The birds sing their songs even in the terrible

weather

And the wind rustles the trees that overlook me

The rain makes everything smell fresh and clean

The breeze slightly touches my skin making me shiver

I feel cold but warm

My feet are cold from standing in the rain

I notice how everything works together

Yet they don’t

I feel out of place

I don’t belong there

I will leave them alone and not disturb their peace

We are all fighting for the same goal

Survival

To be the best

To get the girl

To live problem-free

To have people adore you

To live in a nice house

It’s all we want.
