The Oakmont girl’s soccer teams took on Quabbin Thursday, October 6th. The previous showdown against Quabbin had ended in a loss for both JV and Varsity Oakmont teams so there was much pressure on the rematch. The Breast Cancer Awareness Night started with a 5 o’clock JV game which was hard fought, ending 4-0 in favor of Quabbin.

Next was the varsity game at 7 o’clock. Oakmont started the game off strong, controlling the half until the very end where Quabbin had scored off of a free kick. At the beginning of the second half, Quabbin being up 1-0, Oakmont had not lost their fire. They scored their first goal off of a penalty kick, taken by Haley Rutherford, to tie the game 1-1. Again being in the Quabbin’s defensive end most of the second half Sarah Sicard scored the second goal for Oakmont off of an assist by Molly Horgan. The game ended 2-1 in favor of Oakmont. The amazing victory was from the determination of the players and the support of all of the Oakmont fans.
