Oakmont Fhock dominates their way through CMADA Tourney Championship

Coming into the season, we knew using our speed on the offensive lines would be our biggest advantage this year. So we capitalized on just that – stacking the midfield lines and maintaining high pressure against other teams. This new formation was a challenge at first; we had to get used to changing how Oakmont has played in the past. But as the season progressed, our skills and passing connections improved as well.

Runner-ups for League Champs, we were excited to move on to the Central Mass Tournament. With our adrenaline at its high, we powered through the first two rounds, beating Hudson 8-1, and Blackstone Valley Tech 5-0. Then, it was time for finals. We would go up against Quabbin for the third time this season. Having won against them twice already, we truly believed we had a large chance at taking this home. There was no elaborate game plan or intense scouting, we just knew we had to play our game. Dig deep, give it our all, and stick to what we know best, what we’ve been practicing all season long.

It worked.

We won 3-0.  Anika Sallila, Maddie Davison, and Haley Bosselait, strong contributors to our shutout. Not only for this game but the entire season, without them holding our defensive zone, we wouldn’t have earned the record we have now. And with an incredible start, Piper Zimirowski scored the game-winner and Madi O’Brien added two more to the scoreboard. However, Quabbin started off the third quarter ready and fired up. We knew we had to regain control, so Coach Roy called an early timeout. We couldn’t let up at that point. With 2 quarters to go, it was still anyone’s game. We buttoned everything up and regained control, shutting them out. The final two quarters were intense but well-fought. We had earned this win. Preseason circuits weren’t for nothing!

The team will host their first-round State Tournament game at home Sunday, Nov 6th @ 11:00 am. Come out to support the team!
