My Future
My Future
Sophia Campanale
Am I not still a child?
Only 16 years young
How could the time have already come
College awaits
But where will I go?
Seems to be the big question
Everyone gives me their suggestion
“Be a doctor”
“Make good money”
“Go to Yale”
Soon I’ll be married
Wearing a vale
Children soon follow
They must because that’s what everyone expects
Right?
Raise them right
Teach them well
Do not yell
Or let them smell
I’ll choose my own path
Make my own way
Still in high school math
I sit and wonder
Ponder my future
In the hands of my own
And nobody else’s
Nobody telling me what to be
Or what to do
I’ll choose my own path
