Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Dewhurst

Have you ever walked down the English hallway and seen a crowd of kids gathered around laughing at room 301? If you’re wondering who is making those kids laugh, it’s Mr.Dewhurst. Dewhurst is very popular around Oakmont. He is always there to put a smile on your face, crack a joke to make you laugh and even give you advice if you’re going through a rough time.

He’s an English teacher who mainly teaches freshmen but if you are lucky, your senior year you could have him as an elective for Diversity and Literature and Film and Literature. Personally, if you’re a senior I would highly recommend taking one of Mr. Dewhurst’s classes. Also, “Dewey” (as he is affectionately known) can be frequently found with the Table Tennis Club on Thursday afternoons if you ever want to drop by for a good game.

Dewhurst attended Leominster High School and graduated in 2012, after he graduated he attended Franklin Pierce for only one year and transferred to Fitchburg State University (Go Falcons). He finished his teaching degree at Fitchburg and now is a teacher at Oakmont Regional High School, where he has been teaching for 5 years now.

Dewhurst is father to 1-year-old Foster and husband to his wife Emily, a former Oakmont graduate. He enjoys going to the movies, disc golfing, playing video games on his Nintendo Switch, and hanging out with his son and his family.  If you are lucky enough to have Mr. Dewhurst, s a teacher, cherish every moment.
