Oakmont senior Nola Patty won the Headliners in Education Best Photo Of 2023 contest. Recently announced the winner, Patty was a proud recipient of the award. Joining The Oakmonitor during her sophomore year in 2021, Patty immediately impacted the paper, first known for her passion and talent in sports photography. Since then, Nola has enhanced her skillset as the online publication’s sports editor with several insightful articles along with photo galleries. Growing each day, now Patty has widened her sports coverage as a part of the Ash-West Community Media Studio as a live sports commentator for Oakmont Boys’ Ice Hockey, and sports media intern for Fitchburg State Men’s Hockey. Patty is also interested in publishing special sports podcasts this spring.
This photo (view below) was taken moments after the Oakmont Baseball team won its very first state title in June of 2023. Patty chose to submit this piece because it displayed Oakmont’s success. Titled Champions find a way, a theme of the team, she is particularly proud of the way the photo captures the intense feeling of reward. With Curtis and Smith jumping to celebrate history.
Patty stated, “It was an honor to be an official photographer for Oakmont during this game, and it is even more of an honor that I can share this photo with a wide variety of people.”
