Oh, how excited you are when the car finally comes to a stop. You look out the window and see the beloved red sign with big bold letters reading Costco. As your stomach growls, you get the sudden adrenaline rush to navigate through the crowd and find as many free samples as possible.
I grab an oversized cart and dig through my wallet to find my Gold Star Membership card. I quickly pull it out and flash the little card to the attendant.
When I first enter the enormous store, I quickly gaze at all the expensive electronics, jewelry, and kitchen appliances to make my way up to the best part – the food. Without hesitation, I make one more pit stop to feel all the fluffy pillows and soft blankets.
As I get a sleepy sensation from all the pillows and blankets, I soon realize that I need to pick it up and make my way to the bakery. My heart starts to smile when I see the delicious muffins the size of a small dog. I will never forget to grab the amazing pumpkin pie the size of a tire.
Walking through the meat section, I grab the perfectly moist rotisserie chicken that I will eat for tonight’s dinner. My stomach has a mind of its own; most of the time, it feels like it is dragging me all over the store, putting all the yummy-looking food in the huge cart.
When I enter Antarctica, the frozen foods look out at me longing to put them in my 2nd freezer at home. The only warmth I can find in this cold section is the heat of the free samples awaiting in the next aisle. My stomach growls when I see all the food that I just want to devour. Luckily, there is a sample just around the corner that will give me enough energy to finish up my joyous shopping trip.
I sigh as I reach the checkout. The bliss I feel is going to be ending soon. I reluctantly put all of my delicious food on the conveyor belt and watched it slowly reach the cashier. My heart hurts watching the price go up with every beep. The only thing keeping me calm is how much I am saving buying in bulk.
What would be my $867.56 total is reduced to $483.21.
I roll my massive cart over to the food court as I see it, the $1.50 hot dog and the $2 slice of pizza are bigger than my face. I watch them glisten on the incredible signs as I feel my stomach growl and my mouth water.
Before I realize it, my feet are walking to go and order. I mindlessly click on the Hot Dog (that comes with a soda), a slice of pizza, and the humongous Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie. Some, how all of this food, that could probably feed a family of 5 for 2 weeks, only costs $6.
After I ate 3 Thanksgiving’s worth of food, I decided it was time for my journey to end. I pull out my receipt, twice the size of me, and hand it to the lady as her eyes slowly move back and forth checking if I didn’t pay for anything in my cart. Once she says, “You’re all good to go!” I slowly walk out and start thinking about my next trip to Costco.
