From getting slashed in the knuckles to scoring a nasty goal and every little thing in between, these all caused beef and division between us.
The Beef
During 2019 I started to see my cousins more and more. There were only a few who liked to play, but one in particular played every time he came over. He was basically me almost as if our parents hit a Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on us. We called ourselves god brothers because his parents were my godparents and vice versa. We would play till first to 7… until his little brother came downstairs. Then, we would play till 21, then 51, then 75, then 101… (we both knew we would never get that much). But one thing always stayed the same, every single time, was the knuckle hits. If you tried to poke chances were your stick would go up theirs and hit their knuckles. If you have neverr felt that pain, oh how lucky you are. We would get so mad that we would have penalty shots for knuckle hits. but then it just got too much, every other play there would be a knuckle hit and very very quickly the soup was boiling over. We got so mad at each other that everything went wrong. So, the next time he came over we were smarter, we put on hockey gloves so our knuckles wouldn’t get hit. But yet again something happened. I pushed him down and he fell and hit his head on the wall and had a big bump on it so yet again we got mad at each other and this time lasted a while. Then I changed some rules so we could play but not get hurt. From then on it was fun and you wouldn’t get hurt. Obviously we would still beef but it got better.
The fun times
Some of the most memorable moments were the trick shots and insane shots. From bar downs to off walls to own goals all the fun shots that somehow went in. Sometimes we would do shootouts or play for an hour to see how many goals we could get. We even got so competitive that we kept score on a phone so it would be right. But the best times were when we would move the couch and have a huge open space to play 2 on 2’s or even 3 on 3’s. Sometimes someone older and bigger than you would play so you’d get another person to help you and cook. There would also be the occasional check then we would either take a penalty shot or just keep playing depending on the severity of the hit. One time I hit it off the wall to another wall onto his back and in the net and scored. Or the time off a face off I just shot it and scored. All those fun times are coming and going. They will return again.
