Christmas Movie Bucket List

During this time of year, the holiday cheer starts to set in. LIghts start to be hung off rooftops, and Christmas trees start to appear in front windows. Everywhere you go, you see Christmas decorations that warm your heart, and hot cocoa that warms your hands. Some people seem to get into the Christmas spirit pretty fast just by the environment alone. However, some might need some help, and Christmas movies seem to do the trick.

People constantly argue about which Christmas movie is their favorite. There is a constant debate every season, and it will never be settled. But a list of ideas of the most popular ones never hurt.

One of the most popular Christmas is many people’s favorite, Elf. For those who don’t know, Elf is about a man named Buddy that was raised at the North Pole by Santa and his elves. When Buddy found out he actually was not an elf, which was pretty obvious, he wanted to find his real dad. Buddy went on an adventure to New York City and it’s not as easy as he thought. Buddy is played by WIll Ferrel and if you want a good laugh this holiday season, Elf is definitely for you.

The Christmas classic, A Christmas Story, is a holiday tradition for many. This movie plays on repeat the entire Christmas day and families will watch the whole marathon. A Christmas Story is about a boy named Ralphie whose dream Christmas present is a Red Ryder air rifle. Ralphie gets into trouble occasionally but spends the majority of his time running from the neighborhood bullies. From his iconic bunny pajamas to the leg lamp, A Christmas Story is an all time classic to have a laugh with your family.

You can’t forget about Kevin McCallister this Christmas in Home Alone. Every little kids dream, being home alone for a week to do whatever you want. Kevin’s giant family vacation is on the way, but when Kevin gets sent to his room the night before the big trip and the family loses power, his alarm didn’t go off. With the amount of people going on the family vacation, the rushing family left for the airport without poor little Kevin. Kevin thought it was a dream come true until the neighborhood robbers had different plans. Home Alone is a kids classic and never gets passed up during Christmas time.

If you really want to get into the Christmas spirit, grab some popcorn and a fuzzy blanket and get comfy, because this one’s a little longer. It’s a Wonderful Life is a classic, written in 1946 , about a man, George Bailey, who was about to end his life. He was standing on the edge of a bridge during Christmas time about to jump when he finds his guardian angel. The angel brings George through his home town and shows him how it would be without him all of these years. If you’re looking for an emotional, touching movie, this one’s definitely for.

If you’re stumped on what to watch, you can always watch a classic claymation movie. The Year Without a Santa Claus, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, and Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer are just a few of the feel good classics from the sixties/seventies. These movies all involve different Christmas traditions such as how Santa came about or how Reindeers with shiny noses are treated different. You can dance around the living room singing along with the Heat Miser or the Snow Miser, whatever you prefer. You can never go wrong with a claymation, they’ll have you in the Christmas spirit in no time.

The Christmas season seems to fly by, so make the most of it this year. Make a bucket list, watch a few movies and cherish the time you have with your family. Christmas only comes once a year, don’t let a jolly time just pass by without watching a few Christmas classics.
