This year, a new club has joined Oakmont’s community: The Medical Science Society. It was created for students who are interested in exploring the medical field and healthcare. Members hope to give back to their community through awareness campaigns, educational events, and inspiring future medical professionals.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to inspire and educate students with an interest in medicine by providing opportunities for learning, exploration, and community service. We strive to raise awareness about healthcare issues, support community wellness, and influence a new generation of medical leaders.
Future Events:
- Expect a collaboration with SADD later in the year to host a blood drive available to anyone who is willing to donate.
- Look around the school for posters about the monthly theme that raises awareness, and the posters that contain the Google Classroom QR code.
- In the future, we hope to bring a variety of guest speakers to club meetings to educate members about specific topics and personal experiences
- If the club can generate enough money, we hope to host a field trip (location to be determined) for members only!
Scheduling: Meetings will take place every other Monday at 7:00 in Mrs. Bennitt’s Room 603 in the science wing. Members must attend at least 75% of meetings and events.
