Dunkin’ is a common place high school students swing by on school mornings, and Oakmont is no exception. While everyone enjoys a treat from Dunkin, everyone has a preference. On one hand, students could go for a seasonal or traditional coffee. On the other hand, there’s always the option of a fun refresher. I asked a few of my peers for their opinions on whether they prefer coffee or refreshers.
I first asked junior Stella Deschenes for her opinion on this subject of coffee vs. refresher, “I like both, but I think a refresher would be my pick. Coffee gives me a stomachache.” Deschenes expressed one side of this argument while sophomore Autumn Michalczyk countered it. She said, “Coffee makes my outfits cuter, and I can make it last longer because I like to chug refreshers.”
Continuing with Deschenes’ opinion, sophomore Addy Brodeur agreed by replying, “Refreshers, I like them more, and I don’t like having coffee breath.” Similarly, junior Kara Bennett said, “I like refreshers because of coffee breath.” Both girls do enjoy a coffee occasionally, but a refresher is their go-to before school. Sophomore Piper Rigby had the opposite thought process. She told me, “Coffee before school because it’s cheaper and I like it. It gets me through the day, but I prefer a refresher after school because it tastes better then.”
On the theme of refreshers, sophomores Jacob Preston and Brady Dunn both said coffee is too bitter and they don’t like it. They would prefer a refresher. However, junior Maddy LaMarca shares, “I drink coffee every morning and the caffeine gives me an energy boost.”
According to my interviews, refreshers seem to be a hit with Oakmont’s students. I only spoke with a small group of people, but every student is going to have their own take on coffee vs. refreshers. What is yours?
