Waking up at whatever time you want, hanging out with friends, and not worrying about homework—all of this will become a reality as soon as February break hits.
In our district, February break is the third week of the month. It’s a nice week-long break, allowing students to get away from school and have lots of free time.
If you are struggling to plan what to do with all this free time, don’t worry! Here is a list of some fun family-friendly activities you can take part in.
Bretton Woods, Carroll, New Hampshire
If you enjoy skiing and hanging out in the snow, Bretton Woods is the perfect destination for you. It is located in the White Mountains National Forest and is New Hampshire’s largest ski area. Along with skiing, they also offer dog sledding, snow tubing, and snowmobiling.
Frog Pond, Boston, Massachusetts
February break is the perfect time to go skating at Frog Pond before it closes. You can find this skating rink within Boston Common. Admission is based on height; if you are 58 inches or taller, it’s $12.00. If you are under 58 inches, it’s free. Adult skates are $18.00, and kid skates are $12.00.
New England Aquarium, Boston, Massachusetts
Are you someone who enjoys getting out of the house, but doesn’t want to freeze outside in these frigid February temperatures? Then the New England Aquarium is the place for you. Some of the animals you can see at this aquarium include a Green Sea Turtle, California Sea Lion, Atlantic Harbor Seal, and many more. They are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on the weekends. Admission is $34 for adults, $25 for children 3-11, free for children two and under, and $32 for seniors (60+).
L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates, Boston, Massachusetts
If you are looking for the best hot chocolate in Boston, then Burdick is the place to go. They have a variety of different ways to have your hot chocolate, whether it be milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, or even spicy dark chocolate. The cost varies depending on size, but a cup of hot chocolate can be anywhere from $5.00 to $8.00.
World’s End: Hingham, Massachusetts
Are you someone who enjoys hiking and scenic winter views? Then this is the hike for you! This is considered a moderate hike at 4.5 miles, and while hiking, you can get views of Boston’s skyline. Admission for vehicles is free for members, $10 per nonmember vehicle on weekdays, and $15 per nonmember vehicle on weekends and holidays. For walking into the park, members and children get in for free, and nonmember adults get in for $8 on weekends and holidays, and $6 on weekdays.
