On Tuesday, March 10th, the Oakmont Music Department held its third concert of the year, the Winter Concert. Originally scheduled for March 3rd, a snowstorm unfortunately delayed the concert. Luckily, the students were still able to put on a great performance a week later! This concert featured the Concert Choir, Select Choir, Concert Band, the award-winning Jazz Band, Winter Guard, and Winter Percussion.
The night started off with the Concert Choir, who performed “Everybody Talks,” “Somewhere Only We Know,” and “Top of the World.” Following them was the Select Choir, who sang “We’ll Meet Again,” “It Only Takes A Moment,” “Lullabye,” and “Why Do Fools Fall In Love?“ After the wonderful performances from both of Oakmont’s choirs, they made way for a stage change as the bands prepared to perform.
Up next was the Concert Band, which performed three songs- “Counterbalance,” “Mt. Everest,” and “Rampage.” After, it was the Jazz Band, who performed “Miss Missouri,” “Lush Life,” and “Struttin’ With Some Barbecue.” Their setlist featured soloists AJ Lasorsa on trombone, Nolan Leclair on piano, Joel Desrosiers on alto sax, and Cara Landry on tenor sax.
After the band and choir ensembles showcased their pieces, the audience moved to the gymnasium to watch the Winter Ensembles perform. They started with the Winter Guard, who presented their show, The Red Queen, a retelling of the classic Alice in Wonderland. Finally, Winter Percussion ended the night with their show, Return to Madness.
All of the ensembles had amazing performances, and thank you to everyone who came out to support our students! Join us in May for our last concert of the year, the Spring Concert.
