Poisson d’avril is the French April fools, and means ‘April Fish’.
For April 1st, the French Honors Society set up poisson d’avril outside of Madame Legrand’s room. Poisson d’avril is the French version of April Fools, where fish are stuck onto the backs of unsuspecting people, and it is a popular tradition in French schools.
