This Past Sunday, the award-winning Oakmont Jazz Band played at the Gold Medal Showcase in Boston! The band stepped foot on the Hatchshell stage and played on a chilly Sunday afternoon as many friends and family members watched.
The Band played their three competition charts, “Miss Misouri,” by Benny Carter, “Lush Life,” by Billy Strayhorn, and “Struttin’ With Some Barbecue,” by Louis Armstrong.
Before performing at the Hatchshell, the band got the opportunity to tour not only the House of Blues but also the MGM Music Hall! Marching Band staff member Harry Jette gave the band a tour, along with a bunch of interesting facts relating to the building.
This was one of the jazz band’s last events for the year, with the last ones being the spring concert on May 14th and School tours.
Good Job, Oakmont!
