Starting a new semester
Fresh faces of students and teachers
Syllabus to be signed
Fire escapes to be memorized
Pressure of first impressions
We all know the feeling
Needing to find your footing
Fear of grades slipping early
Adapting to each new teaching style
My usual is not caring
But I felt a surge initiating snowball
Like I was water being carried along a river
I had found my footing being able to climb freely
Embracing each press of my pencil and type of my keyboard
Grades on the rise attendance in its prime
I had come to realization this is momentum
I hadn’t let the work overwhelm me
Leaving it unable to fill me with the stress I had been used to
Skyrocketing rather than plummeting
Projects and presentations
Exams and essays
Everything being completed on time
All work being graded well
Soaring past challenges and entirely understanding topics
Seeing my grades 85% and above
Not only was I passing but I was joyful not stressed
Feeling similar to a soft breath of fresh air
Finally knowing what it’s like to have my head above water
Being able to snowball up instead of drowning
Growing along with my momentum.
