Bay Window
Bay Window
By Tia Cormier
I curl up next to you,
And watch the rain stream down your glass.
I’ll trace the droplet with my pointer finger
All the way till the end.
Then i’ll find a new one
I wish you’d trace the droplet that sits on my cheek
And maybe then you could comfort me,
The way that I do to you when there’s a storm
And maybe I wouldn’t feel so alone in this apartment
My anxieties pick at your beauty
As I chip away the paint that covers your beautiful frame,
And I wanna say I’m sorry
But my throats so tight nothing can come out
So ill fold myself up on your bench that’s so welcoming
And the three windows that swarm me ease the pain.
And i’ll look out at the broken city,
Where she rushes to her job with a coffee in his hand
And he takes the yellow cab to the office.
And the rain comes down on the darkest of my days,
Waiting for me to trace its way down the glass
And i’ll keep tracing your rain,
Until someone dampens the sky
