Best Summer Spots in Massachusetts

Bored this summer? Want to travel somewhere but, don’t have the money to go super far? Well lucky for us we live in Massachusetts! Sure it gets boring sometimes between the long winters and the terrible traffic, but Massachusetts has some fun day trip destinations to make your summer memorable. Here are my recommendations:

Spend a day in Boston: Boston, being the capital city of Massachusetts, has a ton you can do. If you’re looking to do some shopping Boston has some great places. Between the Prudential Center, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and if you’re looking to spend a little more money, Newbury Street. Boston has so many options for a fun shopping day. If shopping isn’t really your thing, that’s okay, Boston has a lot more to offer. Amazing food, duck boat rides, Fenway Park, and even the aquarium.

Head to Cape Cod for a weekend: If you’re looking for sandy beaches, local shops, and seafood, Cape Cod is your place. They have amazing beaches such as Mayflower beach, Marconi beach, and Veterans Park beach. There is much more to do than just hangout on the beach, some examples are, amazing restaurants, ice cream, mini golf, and boat trips. Cape Cod has everything you could ever want on a warm summer day. It’s quite a long day trip from our area to Cape Cod for just a day trip, but it makes for an amazing weekend getaway. If you don’t mind spending a little more money there’s plenty of bed and breakfasts, hotels, and rental houses you can stay in after your long adventures on the beach.

Take the ferry into Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket: Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are small islands off the coast of Cape Cod. Much like Cape Cod they have a lot of similar things: great beaches, fun shopping, and good food, which makes for a day filled with fun. To get there, and back, you must take a relaxing ferry ride, which in my opinion is the very best part. The ferry ride is typically only an hour long. The towns on both islands are cute, small towns with cool buildings and houses to look at. Martha’s Vineyard is known for their gingerbread houses, which are tiny homes decorated to look like cookie cutter gingerbread homes. Overall, the islands are amazing! I definitely recommend going at least once this summer.

Take a day trip to Hampton Beach: Yes, I know Hampton Beach is technically in New Hampshire. But, I know many of us have already gone there, and it’s always so much fun. The sun is warm, so when it gets too hot you can take a swim in the water. The water may be chilly, so if swimming isn’t for you, you can stay on the beach or walk the boardwalk. The boardwalk has arcades, food, and some interesting small shops. You might run into a couple street performers while you’re there as well. The drive from here to there isn’t crazy long either so it’s a perfect day trip.

Many of us are excited for summer. I know I’m dying for warm weather, and days without waking up at 6 A.M. Summer is almost here and we’re going to make the most of it.
